If England play Turkey, may they win 2 - 0 and the goals be scored by Kelly and Bronze…

I can see the jingoistic headlines on the front pages of the right wing press tomorrow morning

Depends on your mentality and what you'll be looking out for.
Confirmation bias is easy to find whatever side of the 'divide' you're on.
The Daily Heil used Chloe Kelly in her bra.  There's probably a Sidebar of Shame special on the webshite.

Isn't that why she took off her top, in order to publicise the Nike logo?

Lots of stuff in the news - almost no mention of the Absolutely Amazing, tough as coffin nails, Mary Earps.

She was kicked, hacked, took a boot to the body; and kept on going. No loss of concentration, made so many saves.

Without her super skills and toughness, I think the score would have been 5-2 for Germany.

Nope. It was a nod to this:

Brandi Chastain after scoring the winning penalty for the USA in the 1999 Womens World Cup final.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Totally agree - she hardly put a foot wrong, at the other end the German keeper had a few hairy moments.
There were one or two performances out there that changed my perception of womens football, Leah Williamson really looks the part, best defender in the tournament by a mile if you ask me. The last 5 minute game management in extra-time was text book stuff, never seen an England mens team do anything like that, ever...  and dont forget the opponent was probably marginally better too.

I thought yesterday ticked a lot of boxes, respect for the opponent and their national anthem for a start and the general atmosphere in the stadium, also at end when the Germans supports also stayed on. Great advertisement for the sport and I cannot imagine that sponsors will not be queuing up to get involved.
Regards,

Alan

I was very impressed by England in the second period of extra time. Germany scarcely kicked the ball.

I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of outright jingoism in the headlines, and certainly didn’t see any chauvinism either. I’ve not read any of the reports though because I’m just not interested in soccerball whomever is kicking the bladder.
For every complex problem in the world, there is a simple and easily understood solution that’s wrong.

Absolutely. She's had a really good tournament throughout too. Helped as well by having a decent defence in front of you.

Outstanding too, and my favourite player, is Keira Walsh. Not sure if Glen Hoddle is somebody she admires, but her passing and distribution is top notch. Really good player. The ball she put through for Toone's goal was spot on. Damn good goal too.

Not Keira Knightley?  I remember her being very good at football.

You're confusing Hollywood with reality again, Roger. I'll increase your prescription.

Basil, when he was young, one of my diminishing band of brothers asked, "If this George Best is so good, how come he isn't playing for England?"

I had similar question to that asked of me relating to Ken McEwan when he was demolishing pretty well every bowling attack that was offered up to him. Wonderful batsman!

I would think that the players would have been quite pleased not to have had to put up with dealing with that particular sexual predator. Shades of "We're not going to the fuckin' White House!"

You can just imagine them having to meet him.

"So, which of you are lesbians?"
"World-beating!"
"That'll show those sausage-eating Eurocrats"

and, worst of all,

"Would you like to come and see my new sofa?"

Julie Burchill in the Daily Heil seems to think it's a welcome strike against trans rights
