I have a memory of the GB Olympic bob sled team always being the RAF and the sled running with an RAF roundel on it. Is my memory playing tricks on me or was that a thing in the 70s or 80s?

A great friend of mine is half American/half Swiss. American pop buggered off (possibly before my friend was born. Imagine being an unmarried mum in Switzerland in the early '60s.
Anyhow, she was selected as a medal girl for a bob-sleighing event and the dashing young British RAF airman (part of the team that finished, I think, third) to whom she presented the medal asked her for a date. And he became my friend's beloved father.
