What I'd like to know is what was my Dad's van doing parked behind the car with the canoe, the bra and the topless woman.  I hope it wasn't my mum in the car with that horrible man?  :o

"This policeman has been following a nervous suspect for three months. The officer is now 300 miles from home."

So that's what GruB tells Mrs. GruB when he's out racking up his Bikejournal count!

That's about 100 miles a month. Even I could do that!

I read that Ladybird book in school!  I remember the pictures, though I think the text may have been different.  Possibly a revised edition.... :D

Pure genius! Where did you find them, Liz?

I got sent them in an email.  Help yourselves for reposting / sending on.  AFAIK they're a free-for-all.

(I 'bucketed them because I couldn't link to the Winzip file I was sent.)

We had that book at home. It was part of the 'People at Work' series. There were similar books about firemen.

I think the original text started with 'You have often seen a policeman'...

Other nostalgic memories regarding that book: (c1964)

There was a Tardis.
Where is the Tardis?
I WANT THE TARDIS!!!!

I was reading that book when my Dad told me some people, in countries where there were few books, had to read upside-down, and that it was easy to read books upside-down.

He was right! I have been able to read upside down rather easily ever since...
