Weird jaw phenomenon
« on: 12 September, 2010, 01:10:47 pm »
Some years ago I developed what I thought was a mouth ulcer on the gums on the inside of my lower jaw - except it felt hard. As days went by, so this progressed until I could feel something sharp with my tongue and, inspecting it using a torch and mirror, it appeared white. Eventually a small splinter of bone found its way to the surface. Within days, exactly the same thing happened on the other side. I kept both pieces of bone to show the dentist, who was intrigued because he had never seen anything like it.

I think the same thing is happening again. Has anyone else suffered this freakish condition?

This is not unusual if a tooth has been extracted nearby.
I will spare more detail to safeguard the squeamish.

Could also be a broken-up wisdom tooth.

This is happening on the side where I have never had any teeth extracted.

As I say, last time, I lost a flake of bone symmetrically. It's also so far below the gum line that I don't think an extraction would cause damage down there. I think I'm just a freak.
