GN: Yesterday I logged into interactive investor.  It said my SIPP + ISA was worth 1 and mostly 6 noughts.
BN: Not today.
More BN: I left school in 1980 when 5% of us went to University. Using the 4% rule 40K puts me in the 91 percentile of income so I am a failure.

Measuring success or failure by income is rather missing the point in my opinion.

BN.  The Llandysul carnival hasn't happened for the last two years.
GN.  It will be happening this year.
BN.  They've decided to hold it on Brenda's jubilee thingy weekend instead of the usual first Saturday in July.

Dilemma. If I don't cover the house in bunting as usual, I'll be 'not joining in'. If I do I'll be a royalist.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

GN as usual the Eastern European who came to work to collect a truck today that had been repaired was friendly

GN 20 minutes charge and the BOOST function to my amazement was enough to start the truck. Reckon anyone within about  a mile heard me awoooohooo.

Do the Welsh Nationalists still burn down houses owned by the English?

Just make sure the bunting has loads of red dragons on it and you'll be fine

Looking up how to transfer Stuffs from creaking steam-powered Sony to new Shiny will require intertubes (available via a fondleslab) and possibly a Babbage-Engine (not available unless I disinter my laptop from under a TPoC or steal borrow Professor Larrington’s, which course of action may lead to Bad Swears and/or lost data as she's a Worshipper at the Shrine of the Mega-Global Fruit Corporation of Cupertino, USAnia).

Indeed, my previous change, from old dead Sony to new warranty replacement Sony, was absolutely automatic, as was the transfer from preceding lost and wiped Sony to new one.  Old perfectly OK but too old to do wifi calling Sony to new Chinese cheap thing also automatic, in the last 6 months or so.  Any transfers involving Samsung don't seem to work, including from old Samsung tablet to new Samsung tablet.

Just initiate transfer, and walk away...

I have had success without issues of any nature with transfers from Samsung to Samsung and most recently Samsung to Google.  They just seem to work.

Galaxy S4 to S7, S7 to S9, S9 to Tab S7 Plus and S9 to Pixel 6 Pro.

I'm still running the S9 as my burner phone* but it really does need the battery replacing.

* It is in fact the phone that I carry when running.  It fits perfectly into the front pocket of my small running waist pack and loses about 10% of battery per hour so I reckon that it would last for a full marathon if my ability ever matches my ambition!

GN: I upped my monthly contribution to the British Red Cross from £15 to £84 (thats £1008 a year)
BN: After I did it I feel guilty not paying more to charity

GN: Ms Beardy the Elder has got a new job

MGN: it’s a promotion meaning a bigger moer interesting job and of course moer money.

BN: Her current role includes tied accommodation; the new job doesn’t

MBN: the new job is in a VERY expensive part of Cornwall, so overall a net reduction in disposable income.

ABN: her husband has JUST been promoted in his own job in Devon

AGN: his boss says he can continue to work from home AND if he can work on the train can count his travelling time as working hours when he does have to come into the office.
For every complex problem in the world, there is a simple and easily understood solution that’s wrong.

BN: One hell of an invoice will be turning up at the end of the week.  :o

BN: made redundant on Friday, with no immediate prospect of other employment.

GN: got a call yesterday afternoon asking if I’m available for interview today at 12

GN+: they offered me the job just before 6pm today

Crikey. Slightly shell shocked. Think I shall allow myself a beer to celebrate.

I'll be entering the glamorous world of corporate communications! It's a freelance contract but long-term*, and the money is decent (ie more like what I should be getting for this kind of work, rather than being massively underpaid as I have been for a long time).

Overall, should be a nice change of pace from the increasingly soul-destroying world of commercial publishing.

Perhaps they'll make you design Powerpoint templates?

Or maybe design a brochure using, you know, Powerpoint.

Or an entire atlas of corporate flowcharts, using, well, Powerpoint.

Perhaps.
