so if I'm working in the states all week (last week) and dont get home till 10am Sunday to save a bit of money on flights, shouldnt I get a couple of days off this week to count for the weekend I've lost?

No.  I have to start work at 7am like normal, and people wonder why I'm grumpy today?

Mars, I hate you.  Why do you refuse to give me that Double Decker I can see in your machine?  Oh well, I suppose I'd better support the competition and try the Nestle machine ...

Nestle, I hate you even more!  I wanted a Toffee Crisp, you've given me a Yorkie and YOU'VE TAKEN MY EXTRA 5P!  Thieving scumbag.

Monitor bracket manufactures. Why do you fit rotation stops to what would otherwise be 360° rotation?

The stands that came with my Benq monitors let them rotate between landscape and portrait, but only portrait to the left, because they have taken the trouble to add a stupid little pin to limit the rotation. It's then a screwdriver job to rotate to the right.

The wall brackets that I now use let me have 5° either way, so changing from portrait to landscape again needed screwdrivers. Now that the rotation stop has met the hacksaw of destiny, I now have a more useful bracket.

At least it was only your belt Andrij, and not your trousers!

Twice I have done the forget trousers bit, once I had to work all day in my cycling longs, second time wait until Next opened (nearest clothes shop to the office!)

I keep some spare clothing in my desk (lesson learned the hard way) but a belt is not included in this emergency kit.  Fortunately there's M&S across the road and House of Fraser around the corner.  I know one of my co-workers bought a complete outfit (underwear on up) and toiletries early one morning.  He had missed the last train home (by hours), caught a bit of shut-eye here and there, but needed to be in the office to meet clients the next morning and the suit he has was looking a bit worse for wear.  He learned his lesson, too.  Especially when he got back home to his wife the next evening.

Bloody A11 between Fetfud & Mildenhall.
I was 15 minutes late and she wouldn't see me, and now I have to go back on Monday for the extraction.
Remind me on Monday to account for the A11 factor. Perhaps I should just have gone on the bike?

Wife... she is a 9 month old kitten and therefore will hunt anything she can get her paws on: remember the butterfly she took down yesterday?

Well, there really isn't no point calling me when she has a blackbird in her mouth is there??? Well okay, I did come out and rescue the bird and then stand outside in the rain doing "door security" for half an hour while it recovered but no doubt, the kittie will be after something else tomorrow.

She is a cat: cats kill. Get over it please.

I would phone the DWP as soon after the time expires as possible to say "I have been expecting a call for the last 3 hours, is there a problem".  It means they can't claim you didn't answer because it's documented that you called them after the period.

This was before I learned not to let anyone make incoming calls to me cos 18002 scares people.
