Outside just now it sounds more like a cross between a lamb and a space shuttle launch.  The house just flexed (it's 0.5-timbered).

I need an emoticon for scared shitless.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

40mph hail.  My favorite.

Followed by clear sky and sunshine the minute I got in the house.  Bastards.

I woke up last night.  The sound of the wind was astounding.

Yes, I woke up several times to the sound of high wind, things being blown around, and Old Joe failing to keep up with BST (probably not wind related, unless they're too scared to go up and reset it).  Barakta slept through it obliviously, of course.

Looking at the logs, the knock sensor on our front door (which gets triggered by strong gusts and the neighbors' door slamming, as well as people who don't use doorbells) was tripped about 50 times overnight.

I managed to dodge the hail storms today, but the wind was strong enough that it almost stopped me completely at one point. I thought I was about to be blown over.

It's foggy! 21/2 hours ago when I came in it was sunny and clear. What's going on ???

I didn't notice that yellowish tinge <runs out to check> Nope. Looks like ordinary fog. Thankfully we're too far from the sea for it to be full of drownded lepers.

Some properly dry air behind this morning's cold front.

Interesting atmospheric conditions over London this morning. No clouds, and little high altitude wind means that aeroplane contrails are lasting much longer than usual. I can see scores of trails, of which these are only a few:

Same here, today. It's all very confusing, especially when going for a bike ride and trying to work out how many layers to wear!

Apparently not. I've got the heating on and it's raining hard. :(

The English Channel has calmed down a bit in the last half hour, but it's still very hypnotic...
