Wanna meet en route?

Yeah, does the route cross a north/south line with Chelmsford?

We could meet at St Anne's Castle.

Ok, I just found the route, I see it goes right past there. Just under 8 miles from Witham, so if I get there for 07:30, that should be about right. Unless you absolutely smash it  :P
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

As mentioned on Wednesday I'm up for a c60 mile ride tomorrow, Oaky suggested Saffron Walden as a halfway point which works for me.  On that basis I have a route suggestion which passes three unvisited GBG pubs although I'm not proposing we drop in on all three!

Anyhow, who'd like to come and what time do we want to set off?   Oaky said he needed to be back by early afternoon.

Over 4 years since we last did this! Anyone fancy a resurrection soon?

Oddly I was thinking about this just the other day! Although the first Saturday I could do would be 9th October which is the day after a proposed 1 night bivvy trip so in actual fact could tie in nicely.

I was also thinking about MEWBS.

I need some mojo and this could be part of the solution.  October looks like a good start date.

Are you going to come on our bivvy?

Probably not.

I am hoping to squeeze as much time out on the water as I can before the weather gives up for another year.

Probably not.

It'll be an after work on Friday affair.  So meet up, ride a bit, eats and drinks, bivvy in the Marks Tey / Chappel area, ride home on Saturday morning which could be a MEWBS ride.  You could be afloat by Saturday lunchtime at the latest!

We have a prospective host, I'm just checking what sort of numbers said host can accommodate.

Hello peeps,

In theory what follows would warrant a separate thread but I'm keeping this low key as I don't want a massive response.

Some of you will know chief, a good mate of Oaky's, who has been around for years.  chief has a house with in the Aldham area (a bit north of Marks Tey) which has sufficient land (plus outside loo!) for us to have a bivvy / little tent session.  The plan is that we meet chief on the evening of Friday 8th October at The Chequers, Great Tey and after suitable refreshment and a bit to eat (I need to check The Chequers does food) chief escorts us to his liar.  Then, the following morning, after a breakfast cook off and perhaps Epiphany stylee early morning brew competition we will depart and go about our lives.

We are treating this inaugural event as a trial so want to restrict numbers to 10.  If you'd like to take part please PM me, 3 places have already gone.

Who's in?

Jibers is on the list

We are now full although I'll ask chief whether he's willing to go beyond 10 as some local folks like ted for example haven't surfaced yet.

We can hammer out details details like routes and pubs nearer the time.  I only mentioned The Compasses at GT as chief mentioned it, I think its his nearest boozer and I think recovering from his back op is preventing him going too far.  If necessary we can meet him there for last orders.

Nearly, I need to touch base with chief and I'll then drop a PM out to everyone who has expressed an interest.  Expect something on Monday.

As promised above I have just dropped a PM out to everyone who has expressed an interest in the bivvy / camping mini adventure at chief's this Friday night.  If you haven't received a PM please let me know.

It should be a smashing affair, we've had a drop out so could fit one or two latecomers in, contact me in you fancy it.
