The A-Road Game
« on: 10 April, 2008, 10:54:36 pm »
The A-Road game, where everyone logs the A road they've ridden, in order starting with the A1 and (not going to the A11 directly) then the A2 etc.

As a newbie in the other place I was quietly waiting for my moment to pounce - when the A172 cropped up.  Is it appropriate to start again here?  Who gets the A1?  Will I be quick enough to log the A19 or will I have to wait for the A66?  Or am I back waiting until someone's ridden the A152 and we can get round to the A172...

Does anyone want to start the game again here?

Shyumu.

I'd suggest a different variant. Start off o the A1. Then anyone can post another road they have ridden that connects with the A1.

You cannot repost a road..
You cannot post twice in succession.

B roads can be used as well.

When I was young and foolish I did practically the entire length of the A3 (not all at once, obv.).  I haven't done the bit between Guildford and Ripley.

I'm going with David's suggestion (this could get complicated).

So A52 (Nottingham).
There's no vibrations, but wait.

The A500 connects to the A51 which takes you from Stoke to Chester

Umm.. the current road is the A52 - do you want the A51 or the A500?

Sorry when I posted the current road seemed to be the A50 into Stoke. I was taking the route NW from Stoke to Chester via A500 and A51

Happy to donate the A51 though if you want it

Who the hell is navigating here? Look we are not lost, we just need to keep on going and take the next four lefts and we should be back on the right road. NO I WILL NOT STOP AND ASK SOMEBODY. WE ARE NOT LOST;D ;D

To get Lost you need the A534, A34, A6, A7, A720, A90, A9, A93, A923 and A944.

A while to go yet..

A dastardly funny variation on the game - so with some careful planning you could hog the game for a while in your own back yard - but what if you paint yourself into a corner?

For this to work it's going to be less like a "me first" thread and more like co-operative play.

Are we still on the A51?  Come on, get up to the North East!  A6 & A66 might get you there...

If you're stuck on the A51 - if you turn right at the petrol station opposite the Sun Do takeaway you can drop in at my house

I've got some malt loaf

Any decent pubs round there?  Word has it Stoke's a bit rough...

I mean, if we're stuck there for a while, we might as well

I think we left Stoke a while back and are in Chester.

Local roads round here would be A41 A55 A483

Your best bet for a beer is probably the Mill Hotel or Harkers

can I have the B4399 which joins it at Hereford even though not sure if I used the A49? (Elgar route 200; my clear glasses are still there somewhere)
