They'd make excellent Christmas decorations!

A bit cracked and knackered.

Oaky was definately exhibiting the mental scars of last weekend but he did get on the outside of the pub's six per cent offering whereas Chief and I finished off with halves. I feel very chipper this morning as a result but I did need three wees in the night apparently this disturbs my wife.

I'm toying with th idea of cycling home from work on Wednesday so anywhere Pleshey-Compasses-Maldon way would suit.
Still not 100% from last week. Feeling quite weary physically and mentally, numb finger tips and the occasional thousand yard stare.

I'll have to check re: Wednesday... I think I might be needed at home early evening but could possibly get out later on to a suitable venue.

I'll be out tomorrow (Tues) night, riding a route through Finchingfield and past the Compasses, however I don't know what time I'll manage to get to either of those (riding a 150km from work).  I'm currently hoping to make it to the Compasses before they shut at midnight, but Finchingfield is the fallback option.

Well, the Compasses is always a good choice - haven't been there for at least....oh, about 4 weeks. Way back in the summer, that was.

I'm hoping to be going for a ride on Wednesday, I've got me new fangled GPS device to try out. Compasses sounds like a plan. I'm not sure how to arrange the logistics of it...

This is my route home in a similar direction which comes out at 120km. Past Epping it avoids any major built up areas and the ride up through the Hadhams is quite pleasant and traffic free.

Try this one instead

I will probably re-route the section between Epping and Newport to follow your route (well, I skip Manuden, and go to Clavering instead)... it adds about 9km, but I'm guessing might come out time neutral since I don't have to go through Harlow/Bp Stortford...

Well done Oaky - does that 150 make it a 'Grand Slam' of rides from 50 - 600km this season?

I'll go to the Compasses tonight for about 21:00, probably with Soupy - see you and Slipgate there? Anyone else?

The 150 was completed and does indeed complete the Grand Slam.

I won't be out tonight, however, as i managed to come off on some tarmac that had been worn shiny and which was wet from the fog, fracturing one of the carpal bones in my left hand.   It was just like ice.  Ironically, I had been talking with Joss at the Compasses just before about crashes, and had described one crash I'd had in the rain ON THAT EXACT SAME SPOT.  in fact the last thing that went through my mind before I hit the deck was "this is where I crashed that other time".  ::-)

I've just got back to the office from the Minor Injuries Unit at Barts and now have a wrist splint and a fracture clinic follow-up appointment for next week.
