I'll go directly to Messing - via Silver End and Kelvedon most likely.

I'll probably route solo, undecided if via Maldon or direct...

If I can't depart until after 8 I'll ride this direct route to Messing, and use it for home too.
How many likely to be meeting @ Spa Rd roundabout at 7:30 this evening?

Unless I get home unfeasibly early I will probably go direct from home, something like this:

On a serious note you may have seen the reports in the local news of debris being left in the road around the Tiptree area particularly Grange Rd, Kelvedon Rd and the B1022 - Colchester Rd which has caused significant damage to vehicles that have hit it. This has comprised of lumps of concrete, wood and barbed wire along with reports of rocks/stones being thrown at traffic from the road side the other week!

Of course this should be easier to avoid on a bike than a car/motorbike as we wouldn't be doing anywhere near the speed they would be but still worth taking care especially if you'are riding solo this evening.

Whichever of Ted or me ride through Great Braxted first can pick the other up off the road on our way to Inworth  :-\
My route amended to avoid those Tiptree roughians.

Could we not adapt Fred like they did for tanks etc for the D Day Landings, perhaps he could have a cowcatcher coming off the forks or some sort of road sweeping device

However, as Fred is not out this week, just avoid Tiptree altogether like my route...

I'm planning to leave as close to 7:30 as I can muster.  Following something like this outbound and huggy's route homewards.
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

We could be vigilantes and find the little turds and beat them to a pulp!

One of the guys Mrs Tipper works with had rocks thrown at his car around Pods Wood.....I personally believe it is an escapee from Mersea Island!

I decided against my longer route here once I'd done a few miles in the fog so I made directly for the crown and am now enjoying a pint of brewer's gold.

Last call for late Velodrome entries tomorrow evening!  I have 2 unallocated spaces still, one paid deposit by someone that probably can't make it after all and one allocated but not confirmed (Sister Carol!!)
Anyone fancy filling up the last couple of spaces, Witham Cycling registration can be sorted on the night.  To save a long post occupying the whole page the latest joining instructions are in the spoiler:

Calling all Chelmsford departers.

Jiberjaber has suggested the 17.56 which should get us there in plenty of time.

I am assuming me, Jiberjaber, Bobb and possibly the Danbury Dogger.

The 17:56 from Chelmsford is the 17:46 from Witham which at least trainmanbri and me will be on, may be standing room only  :P

Oh - are there showering facilities at the velodrome? Or is everyone just going to smell afterwards?

Don't you get to go on the train very often then ?

There are showers there apparently.

I'm riding in to Chelmo from Dunmow - aiming for the 18:09, but might catch an earlier/later one depending...going to risk the cycle-parking at the station, as I've just discovered my folder's rear tyre has a split developing.

As I've got a 15 mile ride home I won't be showering at the velodrome.

You can do the leaving your bike at my office thing if you want - at least it is very handy for the station (if not Admirals Park).
