I think that one's in Clacton. I was following the cycle path and was most delighted to find a set of steps!

Surely that's one for the Warrington Cycle Campaign's Facility of the Month?

NCN5 performs that manoeuvre opposite the NIA here in Brum.  It's the final insult after all the muddy towpath, wharfs and RADAR gates from Smethwick.  No comedy magic paint, though for silly sign value there's one of those Sustrans wiggly posts pointing the way up the stairs.

Fortunately, if you're no more than 2mm wider than an ICE Sprint and have really good spacial awareness, you can squeeze past a bollard and take a long-cut via the NIA's service ramp.

The parents of a friend of mine had a similar sign above their toilet. It looked like the type fitted to old BR carriages.

OT, that has reminded me that the WCC Facility of the Month gets a mention in David Byrne's "Bicycle Diaries".

For many years, I've been hoping that there was a Rue de Remarque somewhere in France, but Google Maps says not so.

Apple might differ... ;D

No, we don't have these things in France, but we are not short of awful places:

We also have numerous "Silly" or "Noisy" places, Google Maps will show you some!

Another favorite:

There is a famous pun in french between the name of this town, and "mon cul", which means "my ass" .

Isn't that 661Pete's castle in the background?  I remember he warned me about the correct pronunciation of that place name when we were about to spend a week nearby.

I remember he warned me about the correct pronunciation of that place name when we were about to spend a week nearby.

In french, the last letter is sometime pronounced, sometime not. You never know unless you have been told.
The name of this town is much funnier when the last Q is not pronounced!

This is how the town became famous:

Thanks for that, French Tandem.  Much chuckling.  Mrs R teaches French so I have forwarded the youtube link to her at school. Useful lesson in pronunciation.

We were there on Saturday, but saw no cows, nor were there any offers on beef or anything. Still, it was pulling the punters in (we were the third and fourth customers that day...probably)

A headline, not a silly sign. Just as sllly.

Is this not just a Private Eye joke?  "Exclusive To All Newspapers" sounds familiar.

The covered sign is the one denoting a shared path with a cycle lane and a pedestrian side.  The temporary one is a standard shared-use path sign.
