It marks the line of an underground water pipe. It is not related to the ditch, just adjacent to it.

Yeah, we knew that really.  But it did make us laugh.

Aye - I admired the juxtaposition.

Cars can't get down this close during the work, and are parked temporarily at the top. Pedestrians have the run of the place as a result. Presumably this sign was just the first one available.

BCC appear to be instigating a cull of colourblind pedestrians:

(Subtitles for the chromatically challenged:  The upper, red light has the 'walking pedestrian' mask, while the lower, green light has the 'standing pedestrian' one.)

That is worryingly dangerous and merits more extensive publicity/ridicule.

Where is that, Kim?

California Way / Northfield Road  Just along the Bournbrook Walkway from one of those extremely irritating anti-cycle barriers that only recumbent trikes can get through.

I note the masks are the right way round on Streetview.

ETA: Just submitted a fault report to the traffic signals department of the council.

I see Street View image is dated August 2012 so fault is relatively recent.

Not really a sign, but seen the other day:

Ignoring the helmet bit (I'd rather see a warning about not riding without properly adjusted brakes, but there we go) - "Do not ride at night"?! Really? (The bike in question had lights attached, so presumably doesn't disintegrate in the dark.)

I'm not really sure what the picture's supposed to show, either - do not ride if frame is absent? ???

The government's new fag packet advisory notice. Seems a bit tame to me:

This looks like an eminently sensible sign to me :-)

On the corner of Monk Bar there is a dry cleaners, who have a board outside advertising their various services, including a Shirt Service.  Passing it today, I notice the first r has been scratched out...
