Time for a body-part related cycle ride?
Is that near Chesterfield? Or Harts?

Neither. It's near Cornhill, between Aberchirder and Portsoy, in Scotlandshire.Banffshire

Ah. Thanks.

It seems I've reached a new low in wordplay. My intention was to name places that might be related to the thorax (Cheasterfield, sounds like Hearts). But, as they say: "If you have to explain it..."

Luckily, I know where my coat is.

I've passed this a few times now, yesterday I pulled over and took a photo.

There is another shortly after with the same measurements.

You'd have thought they might have got at least one of the conversions correct.

The lower one is not far off.
4.9m is 16 feet though.

It's not clear whether women in bikinis are also required to wear a t-shirt while swimming. Common sense would say not, but as it specifically mentions this for men, it kind of suggests women don't get the swimming exemption, but that seems too silly.

I think it means a bikini should be covered at all times, even in the pool, but a one piece does not require an additional t-shirt.

Very similar. Norn Iron would have been "6.30 tul 10", though.

All proper British people mix units.  Fractions like 11/32" are just too hard, so you switch to millimetres when things get too small for inches.  Metres are just French yards.

The one that can catch you out is using lb-ft instead of Nm on a torque wrench; they are close, but not close enough that you won't get in trouble by using the wrong set of numbers.  Oh well, I never wanted that cylinder head anyway.

There's a process for displaying the heights of low bridges on road signs. It's not as simple as measuring in inches and converting to centimetres or even vice versa, there's something about making an allowance for road surfaces, rounding down to the nearest whatever and then converting. And the first measurement is presumably metric nowadays so there'll be double conversion. All of which might explain how 2" seems to equal 60cm. Or might not.
