According to your profile location I think I used to cycle near to your place on my way to Openshaw tech, from Stockport.

Did they ever nuke Openshaw tech from orbit?  (it's the only way to be sure)

Hi Lee . lots of fond memories for me also as I lived in many a pub as a child up and down Underbank n Hillgate, not sure If Openshaw Tech is still there ? I 'm more South Manchester . I know Wright Robinson Tech is still going strong atfer it sank.

The clearance between water level and underside of bridge deck had to be raised from the original design.  The architects/designers hadn't provided enough headroom for us rowers!

Which one there are four river Derwents in England ?
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

I remember it in its original wooden form prior to it being rebuilt in concrete in the 1960s.



It now forms part of the NCN and of a circular walk from Preston City Centre along disused railways. It's on the walking route from my house to the city centre.

Sorry, I labelled them the wrong way round.  It's muggins and Deno rather than Deano and muggins.
