The victim was not severely injured. The collision was not far from here.
Ealing's finest appear to have round-filed this case...

Hats off to the driver who hit him initially for putting his hands up and denying nothing. The woman shouldn't be on the road. It's a good thing the cyclist was quick enough to scramble away from her car. Such a lucky escape.

Ps. How complicated will the insurance claim be? The black car hit him, but the silver car - through failing to pay due care and attention - destroyed his bike and turned a relatively simple knock into a serious incident.

Does it help if everyone who sees the video emails the relevant police force, and tells them to act professionally? If so, which force is it?

I think it will be Metropolitan Police, Ealing. I think that's in LB Ealing.

+1

That was a nasty one. I watched the initial accident through 3 times, trying to work out if it had been me,would I have spotted anything and avoided the accident.  Nope, I don't think I would have, I don't think anyone could have. Scary.

The woman is in denial. She doesn't understand how from not seeing anything (SMIDSY) a cyclist has suddenly ended up under her car from nowhere.

Clearly not paying enough attention - the video is pretty damning.

Kudos to the two people who offered to be witnesses and the chap who made the initial mistake for holding his hands up and doing what he could without trying to wriggle.

They usualy do that afterwards. Probably something to do with when they find out that they'll get points on their lisence, possibly a fine and their insurance goes up, all of which will cost them money or even get them off the road* make it illegal for them to drive a var for a while. Then it all becomes the fault of the cyclist.

I hope that this very clear evidence prompts the Police to be bothered to take witness statements with a view to prosecution.  It would be sickeningly scandalous if they don't.

I would be very surprised if the police did anything.
Despite the cyclist's innocence and written-off bike (I presume), his injuries would be classed as 'slight' or 'none', and some excuse will materialise.

Much as I'd like to think that Fiesta lady would be banned for life, I have a horrible feeling she won't be punished in any meaningful way.

If she does get off with nothing more than a slapped wrist and token fine/ban, I'd love to know what additional legislation Andrea Leadsom will seek to introduce to ensure that dangerous drivers such as this face the "full force of the law" in future.

I have left an email with CTC's Stop SMIDSY website and left a comment with my email address on YouTube but not yet heard anything.
