Explain Hard tails to me.
« on: 27 May, 2023, 08:27:49 am »
So, I'm looking for a bike to ride the King Alfreds Way and similar off road trails in
Don't want to use a gravel bike and have come to the conclusion that a hard tail MTB is the way to go; but what type?

Confused by what's on offer. Is an XC the way to or doesn't it matter ?

Problem is every manufacturer has their own definition:) but a cross country is broadly what you need. But some cross country bikes are full suspension…

But for what you want a basic hard tail with 80-100mm travel on the front suspension should be fine. Think everything comes with disc brakes these days so decide a budget and pick a few bikes in your price range to try.

Thanks, Boardman MHTs or Trek Marlins seem to fit  the bill.
Other thing to contend with is weight..
