ECE'ing WWWD, so put the kettle on...
I'd offer you some moral support - but I have questionable morals.

Did some of the route i.e. Burford - Little Barrington when out with mrs ao today (Sat.).  Just a couple of minor flooded sections of road between Burford and Little Barrington.  Not deep, or too long, but I guess watch out for potholes - we didn't 'find' any.

Thanks Andy. Looks like the puddles might enlarge today.

Well, I shaved off a corner and turned the 150 into 115. Just as well, I feel pretty tired. The weather didn't show off this lovely route to its best but was still got to get out and put some miles in, albeit slowly. My audax mojo is well and truly gone, so We'll have to see how things go this year.

Had a few chats on the way, discussed Drew Bucks forthcoming Asian cycle tour with him and met the very affable organiser of the Nutty Nuns and Merry Monks, Mark.

I want it known I hate that cliimb out of the first control  :P

I managed to have a mechanical where my lower jockey wheel picked up something and seized just after the first control so I spent a few minutes fishing out what looked like fibres from a rope or something which did free it up for the hill from hell although it had an annoying squeal which stopped after control #2 and never did it again.

flaatuus you missed the worst bit with the wind from Stanton Harcourt to the finish 45km with a strong headwind wasn't nice.

Did this route go anywhere near Bourton on the Water? I saw lots of riders in the vicinity and thought that
there must be some sort of organised ride going on.

It did, and I saw you going up a hill just outside as I was descending.

Ahhh, thought so. We (ctc) rode from:
Pittville Pump rooms,
Past the racecourse,
Through Bishops Cleeve, Gotherington,
L onto the B4632,
2nd R, past Hailes Abbey,
R up Stanway Hill B4077,
R towards Lower Swell and Bourton.

(For those of you who have ridden the old Cheltenham Flyer 200 will possibly be familiar with the Bishops Cleeve > Bourton).

Apart from some early morning drizzle or it could just have been mist, my lenses were so fogged up, I couldn't really tell, I managed to stay dry all day.

That climb after the first control is definitely a beast. Last year I had beans on toast at the fruit farm cafe, but gave it a miss this time around in anticipation of the ascent.

The headwind after Stanton Harcourt was certainly lively. I was ECE'ing the ride up to a 200km and had another dose of it getting back home.

I'll just go and stand in the corner in the "I'm such a fecking div" thread

Read THE RULEZ first

Anyway, it was a nice 233km...
