A very old trip report from 2000 when I bothered enough to set up my own webpage. I lost that when I changed ISP's but the Wayback thing still has it, minus a lot of the photos.

Yes, and "sending postcards" and "calling home from a phonebox" . Things we don't do anymore.

When Jan and I did Lejog in 2007 I wrote my ride reports daily in an exercise book, then found a phone box and read them to Dez, who typed them and bunged them on my website. IIRC he also copied them to ACF. It generated a lot of interest from forummers at the time, as it was pretty rare 12 years ago to be able to get such up-to-the-minute reports from variously remote places.

Still there!
Edit: bloody hell! Gmap-pedometer.com still works!

Thanks both. An excellent read and a lovely way to spend a sunny Sunday morning when illness means no cycling....for the fifth week running!

Thanks for sharing that. I really must write up my recent trip (started Glasgow, Oban, Mull too) before I forget too much.
