A crap place to camp

“Wild camping” is increasingly getting a bad rap, especially in picturesque areas, because of the euphemistic “overtourism”.
It is simpler than it looks.

I think the farmer could be charged with assault.

The man was trespassing but there appears to have been no attempt to ask him to move before he slurried him.

Perhaps the edge of a field isn't quite wild enough (or he either pitched too early / stayed on too late).

I can't see what harm the camper was doing at all, up against the hedge, no crop damage, no forced entry, what was the farmers problem?  I camp like that quite often, usually pitching after 10pm and off before 6am, the only time I've been approached by a farmer I thought he was going to kick me off, but only wanted to flog me some eggs (Which I bought, even though I had no way of cooking them)
I hope the farmer gets prosecuted.

I don't like the term wild camping, unless it's in the wild.  I don't use it, I camp on site or off site.

I tend to agree, but the world has changed since COVID and it is possible that this happens very regularly, rather than a few time a year. In picturesque places it is becoming a huge problem. One buried turd a year is probably fine. Several unburied ones a day damages ecosystems.

I think the farmer's response is way over the top, and now the he has identified himself, maybe there is redress.
It is simpler than it looks.

I sympathise with the farmer's grievance - but not with his actions.  He makes a point of only spraying the camper, no pretence of it being an accident, since he veers at him and then away with no attempt to spray the field.  That is surely assault.  But he will probably get away with it because farmers are part of the establishment and the press will side with him.  He is also obviously in love with himself.

It was a remarkably stupid thing to do. To say the least.  The farmer, I mean.

Reports online that the cyclist was 'doing a self-supported charity ride, length of GB. Not staying in hotels to raise as much as possible for Cancer Research, following death of wife'.

In any event, the farmer appears to be a vindictive idi*t.

I am hoping for two things.

1) a prosecution of this vile person
2) some kind of public notification of the cause of the cyclist, so I can donate money.
It is simpler than it looks.
