anyone watch this on BBC2... what the frigging fuck?

At the end of the second episode we thought that it was supernatural - James was already a ghost as Paula's shots (at close range) had completely failed to kill him (gone through?) and James' stabbing Mac in the eye appeared to have had no effect and when he saw Paula in the car she totally ignored him. Was he dead and now also a ghost.

But no. He was alive, his eye was apparently ok. We later saw a few stitches on it which seemed disproportionate to the amount of blood that came out.

Was Paula just such a really, really crap shot that she couldn't even shoot somebody at point blank range?

What was the point of the boy being beaten up, leaving a dog in a bag and then buggering off again when she was about to cook him spaghetti hoops?

What was the point of (the ghost of) James' sister apparently having her mouth sewn up? What was the point of her in the first place?

Why did Paula feel the need to just randomly inject herself with heroin half way through episode 3?
Why does Paula live in such a shit house despite being a teacher and why does she always leave the door open?

When did she have time (not to mention not being a skilled joiner) to manufacture a fairly well-crafted, unescapable-from wooden box?
When did she acquire the medical skill (and also, time) to rig up a nose tube - and more to the point, why did she bother, if she thought James was in custody?
How did she know James was going to be in the basement and when did she have time to prepare a needle full of drugs ready to inject into his neck?
Why did the blokes laying the concrete in the cellar not hear/see him?

Ridiculous.
If you haven't watched it yet I wouldn't bother.
