SHIT!!!

Thinking about it, I've just made a complete cock of myself!!!  :P

Sorry  ;D

Excellent, now we just need to convince you that the pedals are forced to turn when you wheel a bike backwards.

I've been to the dentist today. There was much drilling, filling and gantries in my mouth. My face hurts.

This thread has cured me. Bobb - you are priceless.

The video is brilliant. Awesome cycling, awesome music. The middle aged codger in me wants to wag a finger and say "Tut Tut - young man..." but... it's just brilliant.

Don't give up bobb! Come to the freewheel competition tomorrow - I'm sure you can develop some way of freewheeling backwards, even if you have to break something... ;)

It's obvious and easy.  You flip the back wheel around.  To get around the problem of the drive being on the wrong side, you make the chain into a figure of 8 mobius strip passing between the spokes.

Easy.

I must have watched that clip at least 10 times now, and I'm still shocked at what's possible.

In fairness to bobb, given that the rest of the action seems to challenge the laws of physics and require normal expectations to be decoupled, it's not entirely unsurprising that the freewheel brain-burp crept in.

Still funny as anything though  ;D :demon:

My favourite part of the thread so far has to be:-

Well, he's made the bbc website.  Bet his sponsors are pleased with him!

I honestly thought, for a second, that you meant bobb was on the BBC!
I need to spend more time away from this forum, i think  :D

I'm glad I could be of amusement  :)

I have a knack of saying stupid things (the rest of the time I'm always correct of course!) particularly if my consumption of red wine has been high  :P
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

I just had to watch that again.

I also downloaded the Band of Horses album.

I love that reverse endo at 3:23. He's got a cool bike - bigger than a BMX, but smaller that a trials. Or he's a big guy.

I started looking into trials bikes after seeing it, and there are apparently 20, 24 and 26 wheel sizes ... I'm guessing his is a 24???

Funnily enough that's exactly why I rejected the idea ...

40-year old bloke on new trials bike + trying to emulate Danny McAskill = A&E + my wife banning all bike related activity FOREVER

A question for anyone in the know:-

I notice Danny's trials bike ( and similar ones on the market / in other vids etc.) has what looks like a chain tensioner.  why not use horizontal dropouts instead?  Is it something to do with the incredibly small chainring?

Also:-- Does any else remember a thread here linking to a Ryan Leech video some time back... I remember the comments here about it being in the wet and the steel rails he was jumping his bike between being therefore slippy as anything, but can' find the thread...

Mutts nuts stuff
I reckon guys such as him not only have a terrific sense of balance but a spatial awareness that most of don't have.In addition he has a perception of what is possible that most of us would not be aware of or recognise( eg:-the gap between a wall & sheffield stand being just right to wedge the bike into )
Dunno about scars:he has lotsaballs.
A good advert for Edinburgh too. I am looking forward to being there soon even though I will only be passing through.

Y'know - it's going to be a year soon, since I first watched that video. And it still hypnotises me. Brilliant.
