That was a heart-warming send-off for Dave. The chapel was full to overflowing. Condolences and best wishes to Charlotte and all  the family.

As Ian has posted.

where you have a concentration of power in a few hands, all too frequently men with the mentality of gangsters get control. History has proven that. Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Finally rode my first DP Audax on Saturday - the Kiddy Killer, a gorgeous hilly gravelly potholey peaceful route thru Worcs and some other counties (just) into Wales via something called the "Long Mynd".

Thank-you Mr Pountney, it was a grand day out. Your memory lives on!

Last year's Kidder Killer event was going to be dedicated to the great DP along with Mark Rigby's resurrection of The Elenydd.   Alas, 2020 heralded the arrival of C-19 and both events were cancelled.

A nod to DP this year was to reinstate severity along the route to his standard, as it had become slightly 'easier' in recent years.  The severity will be here to stay.

A Perm version of the DP Elenith was launched last year too and is currently available to ride.   The only major change is re-routing the return leg via Ludlow rather than Leominster as a means of reducing the lengthy A44 section.
