A14? Are you completely mad? It is bad enough in a car!  

I did Ely to Newmarket and then along the A14 to Burger steadmans on the Trice in 2008. I still lived!

Lovely bit of road. One very cold day last year went from Bedford to Thetford via the A428, A14 and A11. You can't beat the main trunk roads for roads that are well built and fast rolling. Give that to me anyday of the decade rather then some country lane covered in horse shit and old folk out walking their dog wearing socks with sandles. Rode back later on in the same evening as well and have never been so cold. But I was on a bent so all as well rather then riding an DF bike which would have been just wrong.
