Nice.

Watch it, he's after your nuts!
Ears aren't as tufty as the reds I've seen in the Lake District. Do they vary, or is that a Red with a crew cut?
-
Grey methinks.
-
They moult in the summer, and lose most of the ear tufts. The tufts become a lot more obvious over the winter.
They can also vary in colour quite a bit over the year, sometimes they look fairly grey.

Believe it or not that is an American Red Squirrel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_red_squirrel)!
In this part of France there are many European Red Squirrels (https://www.google.fr/search?rlz=1C1CHZL_enGB739GB739&biw=1366&bih=662&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=european+red+squirrel&oq=european+red+squirrel&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0j0i30k1j0i5i30k1j0i24k1.106779.110000.0.111090.9.9.0.0.0.0.109.849.6j3.9.0....0...1.1.64.psy-ab..0.9.842...0i13k1j0i7i30k1j0i7i5i30k1j0i8i7i30k1.0.OE1EhDx-U9s) and they are not like that. Many here are almost black, too.
Have also seen reds in NE Scotland and the Lake District.

I saw a red squirrel yesterday.
It was dead on the road :'(

I've got one in the freezer at work. (It was roadkill).

Believe it or not that is an American Red Squirrel (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_red_squirrel)!
Surely you noticed the tiny Colt Eagle .045 riding on its hip.

Red vs grey i.d. - it's in the tail http://www.rsne.org.uk/about-squirrels

On holiday on Arran last week red squirrels were frequent visitors in the cottage garden.
