Title: Obscure musical instruments

A nyckelharpa. That's a new one on me, but it seems like a very capable alternative to the fiddle.

I've been following Erik intermittently through lockdown and might have posted about this.
Here's a topical rendition https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCBd3gLb87E (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCBd3gLb87E)

My father made a claviorgarnun  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claviorgan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claviorgan) in the late 70s. He also restored many mechanical instruments including some of these  https://www.google.com/search?q=decap+robot+organ&rlz=1C9BKJA_enGB926GB926&hl=en-GB&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjO8futppT3AhUXQ0EAHVrxC-8Q_AUoAnoECAIQAg&biw=1180&bih=701&dpr=2#imgrc=qUrSCFChem1QjM (https://www.google.com/search?q=decap+robot+organ&rlz=1C9BKJA_enGB926GB926&hl=en-GB&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjO8futppT3AhUXQ0EAHVrxC-8Q_AUoAnoECAIQAg&biw=1180&bih=701&dpr=2#imgrc=qUrSCFChem1QjM)

Quite impressive. I wonder how much the room contributes to the sound and whether it was designed for the instrument?

James Yorkston plays one - uses it lots in the Yorkston/Thorne/Khan recordings and gigs.
