Strawberries being eaten by woodlice!?
« on: 04 July, 2008, 10:54:01 am »
My strawberry bed has lots of healthy plants with lots of lovely berries. The only trouble is, as soon as the netting-covered berries begin to ripen, they are devoured by something. There are a few slugs around, but I can't put down slug pellets (we has a hodgeheg!), but all the half-eaten berries are always crawling with woodlice, whom I belive to be the main culprits.

I've never had a problem with woodlice before. Does anyone have any (hedgehog-friendly) solutions?

What you will probably find is that the slugs cause the damage to the fruits, then the woodlice take over...

No suggestions really apart from copper strips maybe?

Two bricks.

Place Woodlouse on one, apply other.

But at least you got strawberries >:(

Are you sure it's woodlice?  Could it be that you've had a nocturnal visit from a Nutkins and an Annie?
