From below Winter Hill in Lancashire at about 1,000 feet  looking towards the Lake District, probably about 60 miles visibilty. Very little snow, even that on the distant fells is mainly a dusting. The yellow haze will be diesel particulates.

We got quite a bit of snow, the sheep beyond our garden look mighty pissed off, especially the Rams, who are trailing their nadgers through the white stuff.

It suddenly started dumping it down this morning. Even the Canada Geese were caught by surprise , they couldn't move around quickly enough to stop it from building up on their backs.

Jaded, your first two remind me of Hendrik Avercamp paintings.

What makes you say that?

My brother sent me this photo this morning. His words:

Here's a remarkable thing; this disc of ice, c 2m across, was rotating slowly and steadily in the brook. I have a rather jerky video but it's too big to attach to an email

It's what the aliens do in winter, when there's no crops to circle.

Dramatic illustration of mathematics in nature really.

That's not me. But 10 rode out there on the traditional route up to Kinpurney tower (which is challenging in good conditions).

That is Mr July on his way.
