For the record, mushrooms are more closely related to animals than plants, so 3/10 for effort on the cat's part.

Bad Cat has a nightly miaow fest in the hallway now. She waits for us to go to bed and then starts up. For ages. She also does this with her favourite ball in the side of her mouth and at the end of proceedings, wanders into the bedroom and drops the ball with a gentle thud of punctuation. Job done.

Noisy furry idiotsack.

You know that thing where you throw a dog a little teat and it catches it, well my dog just ducks.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Megan is similar.  She just doesn't do catching.  If you chuck a treat, it bounces off her head.  She doesn't do sticks either.  If you throw a stick, ball or whatever, she just looks at you.  "So, you didn't want that then." She says.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

I believe the traditional solution is to put them in goal and blame them when your sportsball team inevitably loses.

Nibbling a slice of fig while sporadically proclaiming "Cherry!" and whistling the tune from Duke's first aria from Rigoletto very badly.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Whenever we put things over the radiators to dry a bit, she does one of two things. One is to pull whatever it is down off the radiator by crawling up underneath them, or else, when we use the double panel one….

Oi cat. You're an obligate carnivore. WTF are you doing eating mushrooms? And don't give me any of that umami BS.

Have your cats been in contact with my cats?

Stole a mushroom then played with it...but took bites out of it.

They are recovering.
Last week noticed that Ninkasi has red scabby bits in the thin fur patches in front of her ears. Bet that's flea allergy dermatitis, thinks I. Somewhere there is a box with some spot on we got from the vet a few months ago.
Finds it, applies it on Saturday. Then reads leaflet and finds out it was wormer, not for fleas.
In my defence they've never had problem fleas before, but Pumpkin is always eating something that warrants worming.

Tonight I vacuumed and sprayed the top floor with flea killer.

Then get spot on flea stuff, shove it on both cats. Didn't manage to get it in exactly the right place apparently. (surprisingly difficult when they're disappearing down the back of Pingu's neck.) So they both manage to lick it and hypersalivate massively. Sorry kittehs.  :-\

The parrot is locked up in disgrace. He quite happily lets me rub his back and scratch his ruff, but when MrsT offered him an apple core this morning he reached round it and nipped her finger so hard he raised blood.

Next door has just acquired a dog. It is barking incessantly. I need a dog-whistle (one only audible to dogs)
to blow and be heard by dog through paper-thin dividing wall between our properties.

Wouldn't that just excite the dog and cause more barking?  Our [nighbours' dog] certainly goes off in response to interesting noises through the wall.

NewKitten (not yet named, arrived Sat night), is currently cowering behind a curtain, looking at me like I am devil incarnate.

40 min ago she was climbing on my lap, purring, and obsessively following me around the house.

Wrestled with flickr, failed.

She's discovered home working, AKA, walking across keyboard, batting pens onto floor, curling up on or under my arms while I'm typing.
Not sure if this will work

She definitely fits in that category.

About 9:30 - 11pm is the "I'm totally mad" session. Cannonballing around the room, pouncing on anything. Take that, ball of paper!

Highlight so far was her misjudging the edge of the table, starting to slide off, then doing a cartoon cat scramble up the tablecloth as the whole thing (including vase and bottle) started to slide off.

Does anyone else's cat do a runner at the sound of a length of aluminium foil being torn off the roll?
Our Lucy, normally gallus and easy-going, heads for the hills, or under the spare bed at least, as soon as I open the drawer where we keep said foil.

Cats hate foil.
Gardners sometimes put lengths of it on beds to stop cats crapping.

Catticus has taken to sitting on the upstairs banisters, where he does all the usual cat things - washing, sleeping, attacking his tail from one side when it's dangling from the other...

Well, today the inevitable happened. I don't know the direct cause, because I was downstairs at the time, but it's a four metre drop and he did land on his feet. One life gone. Hopefully he'll learn from it.
