...PBP will be a doddle...

I love your turn of phrase.   :o

It's all relative.

I do have a plan to make it much less of a doddle for myself this year though...

Hoek Van Holland to Nordkapp are just above 2000 miles, if you go through Sweden.
You can rough camp and Sweden are cheaper than both Norway and Denmark.
Only downside you have to ride 150 miles to Alta for the nearest airport.

There are plenty of routes here

What about : London - Rome - London that 's also around the 2000 miles.

Les Diagonales de France Just start from Dunkerque and do three Diagonales de France to finish at Dunkerque. Ferry both ways.

This is known as a "triangle" in French circles.

It earns you lot of respect, people tend to do it in 2 weeks though.

If you are interested I can put you in touch with people who can tell you how to enter. It works more or less like a DIY except that there will be people along the way riding a bit with you to cheer you up, they will also ask you to produce a road book (effectively a list of roads you intend to take). You need to enter long before riding it.

If you finish, you will then be part of the "diagonaliste" fellowship.

Talk to Assasin here, I don't think the US Metro Tour de France Cyclotouriste can be done in 13 days unless you have superior fitness and a follow vehicle. Even then, it would be very tough.

I was hoping that they would have a route that is easy for me to follow and was trying to avoid all the red tape and rules. Not sure what would happen with any potential companions if I get behind or ahead of schedule either.
Still sounds like a good ride though.
