What this seems to me missing is the 'wordy' connections - eg homophones, all the words contain a mammal, add one letter to get the name of country etc.

Something which crossed my mind after today's puzzle - for the mathematicians amongst you: today, I sorted out two groups in my first two guesses, but was clueless thereafter. By sheer luck, I managed to solve the puzzle at the last gasp.

Given that the software tells you if you inadvertently attempt the same incorrect guess twice (I found this out this morning) what is the probability of finding the last two groups by chance?

Think I'll not bother with this any more, it's fine them copying UK quiz shows, but the connections aren't as interesting as the Only Connect ones, where it's words or word elements or sounds or other things that take a bit of lateral thinking. It's just a bit dull.

Agreed. Only Connect has wit and flair. I've done this one a few times but it hasn't really caught my imagination.

It is proving rather dull todays was pretty easy although bizarrely didn’t see the yellow until the end.
