I'm going to bail for this evening ... a quiz I was due to join last Wednesday was pushed back until today as a couple of us couldn't make it last week

Is the BB going to need a "hello kitty" face mask for the foreseeable future?  Does he know anyone who could sew him one?  ;D

Yep - checked out the rear arrangements, there's a big marquee in the car park and some room inside (didn't pop inside).  It's payment by contactless card - not sure how we'll work that but I am sure we will find a way...   See you at 20:00.

Note - bridge in the park is undergoing replacement - I've not checked it out yet but I think there is a temporary bridge in place if you are coming from that direction....

Due the Sarah being a bit uneasy about me going to pubs just yet and not wanting that call from “the man” to self isolate, I’m not out.

Totally understandable Andy and Jan. I’d be interested to know what the OT had put in place to keep everyone safe. We’ve been in 2 pubs here in the Lakes and we’re quite impressed.

One way system, table service, contactless payment only, hand sanitizer stations, reduced capacity, staff with face masks on. We all had to write down out name, contact number and arrival time.

It was quite empty, 4 of us in one corner and 2 in another corner. There were about 4 people outside under the marquee and may have been a similar number in the bar area.

Not sure where next weekends venue might be...

Interesting that the ban on more than 2 households meeting indoors has been relaxed in Chelmsford  ???

Obviously only applies to people meeting in actual houses. Feel free to mix with any old Tom, Dick or Harry indoors anywhere that sells copious amounts of alcohol. Not a recipe for disaster / killer virus spreading.

BFC Pigsty (anyone that has been will understand) is available if the mass would prefer, until we all figure out where to go that has the right mix of keeping the pubs alive and keeping ourselves alive. Whilst it was nice to be in a pub last week the low turnout due to lack of confidence and crap weather made the event underwhelming.

I am buiding up to testing the Woolpack on foot (Witham, not Chelmsford), but even if they have got their act together for drinking the bike parking facilities are worse than crap.

Spiritual Home scheduled for 22nd I assume, unless the builders have other ideas.

I think all the regulars are open to suggestions for venues.......

I think the forecast looks a bit more settled this week. I'm up for another pub visit, but BFC Towers is fine by me if most aren't happy to go pub-wards. Maybe the lure of the Spiritual Home later this month will draw the ACME punters in?

Spiritual Home reopening is postponed to the 24th so not possible this Wednesday.
Anywhere suitable in the open air is good for me with the less damp forecast.

By the way, does anyone want/need a tumble drier.
It predates the burn the house down models by a few decades (at least), very well built with a lot more steel than plastic.
Kitchen redesign (retirement driven) requires it's eviction.

PM if interested.

Pub not open until the 24th now, so you’ll have to wait until the 29th I’m afraid. We will have a big marquee up in the back garden, not my crappy little one. The new shed bar will be operational, so you don’t even have to go into the pub - tutti al fresco.

The guidelines say groups of up to 30 in the pub, which is the equivalent of 2 households if you have as many children as Boris. And remember what he said - if you can go to the pub, got to The Compasses, don’t stay at home, go to the pub, preferably by bicycle, but only one or more forms of exercise day, which in turn will allow us to take back control of our borders and unleash this country’s full potential... ad infinitum... ignoratio elenchi... piffle piffle, spaff the wiff waff up the wall...
You can’t just call time out and stroll on into the beach if you don’t like the way things are goin’.

If a pub and not BFC's Garden of Earthy Delights, then at least we should be able to sit outside tomorrow evening. The OT is a known quantity - unless there is any experience of the arrangements somewhere else?
