Circumcision.
« on: 08 July, 2008, 02:51:08 am »
It looks like the youngest (5) might need it doing, and as some of you on here have had it done at an older age.
Is the op painfull and what can we expect him to be like?
It makes my legs cross and brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.

I got circumcised at 14. It wasn't painful as the local anesthetic took care of that, when that started wearing off it was a little more painful but not much, peeing was a bitch though. Took me 3 days before I could/would wear trousers and walk again, a week later I was back to normal. Worst thing was watching late night ch5 with the gf aka softcore porn on the first night. Not recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mind you he's 5 so shouldn't have any hassle there. Tis good in the long run though.

Cheers for that Sam, just need to explain to him why he's got to go to Hospital/doc's.
And getting him to take any medicine now is hard enough but when he's got the hump and a sore cock  :o, I can see it being a fun week or so.

I was about 22 when I was cirumcised. It was a lot less painful than I expected, more frightening than anything I recall going for a pee the first time and thinking it would be excruciating but suprisingly it was fine. I think the younger they are the better as well. At least he won't have to suffer the shaving part.  ;D

I presume he is out of nappies, which reduces one cause of soreness and infection.
Some anaesthetists/surgeons inject a long-term local anaesthetic for pain relief while the patient is still asleep. Waking up with a 'dead'-feeling dick can upset some kids. This needs to be discussed with the medical staff beforehand, to see if they intend to do this and with your son if they do, so he knows it will eventually feel normal, if sore initially.

Some surgeons opt for a preputial stretch, where the opening of the foreskin is stretched under anaesthetic, rather than a circumcision.

No more painful than catching your bell end in the zip.

Thinking about it, most of my pain was mental rather than physical.

Had it done at 22, general anasthetic, mmmm Tamazepam on the way under

Morning glory = ripped out stitches  (presumably not a concern for a 5 year old, but then again kids grow up so fast ;))

I was riding my bike again after a week

Had it done when I was 34, under a general anaesthetic (did not get choice from local NHS), so didn't hurt when I had it done, but did hurt a lot afterwards.

I went to work the next week, and could hardly walk as it was so painful, but this was probably more to do with me having a tight foreskin for 34 years effectively.

I notice it occasionally now when it touches my trousers but it doesn't really bother me much.  Its much better hygiene wise too.

I would definitely have it done now when he is 5 as there should hopefully be less problems with things such as erections and it should be an easier operation at that age.

Having been big sis to (and nappy changer to two of) three boys 3, 9 and 19 years my junior, I can inform the readers that erections do occur in liitle boys.

Yes they do but not as frequently as when you're a teen +. The vast majority of muslim circumsicsions happen pre age 3.

Had mine done aged 5 or 6.  General anaesthetic which left me nauseous, and they kept me in for a couple of days afterwards.

Think I had to wash it (or have it washed) regularly for a week or so afterwards.

Had mine done at 27 under general anaesthetic. The first pee at the hospital before going home was a bit of a shock as I started bleeding quite a bit. The wound opened up a bit as well as the stitches disolved before it had healed properly. Had to sit down to pee for two weeks and it was at least 6 before it was healed enough that I could walk without a bit discomfort.

I think recovery time and the amount of pain will depend on how much is removed. The more the better I think. They only took a little bit off me which left the stitches underneath the remaining foreskin. I think if they'd taken more off so the stitches were on the outside I'd have healed a lot quicker and been in less pain.

And you haven't washed it since? ;) ;) ;)

+1 for waking up having soaked the bandages in blood.  They spent all day trying to stop the bleeding before eventually resorting to putting another stitch in under local which bloody hurt.
