Ealing Fixie Chick photograph
« on: 25 April, 2008, 09:28:14 am »
Running late today - I had the foresight to leave my phone some where in the house on silent thereby making it very difficult to track down. That five minutes delay meant I was slightly late than usual.

Going past West Ealing station I was aware of a cyclist behind me and seconds later she shot past effortlessly. I can indeed confirm she rides brakeless.

I managed to keep up but not close enough to start a conversation. I was so hoping I could catch her but alas not until we reached traffic lights at A40. I was turning left and she stopped.

I managed to get one shot before the lights changed...

going for lie down now, not used to doing such speeds this early in the day.

What would you have said to her ? "Do you mind if I take a picture to share with my cyber friends ?" ?

this is true.

i've seen her once before, and it did occur to me how the conversation go:

"Hello - you don't me, but a lot of people on forum that i don't know either are really interested in you, and by the way can i take a photo?"

That's assuming I could still speak after catching her up.

I think it was suggested getting some form of net trap or police stinger thing to stop her...

I never know what to say to other people, let alone fixie chicks. "nice bike" sounds crass doesn't it.

Does this woman know we are stalking her?

Its like following Noddy from Slade around the supermarket to see if he really drinks cupa soups

This makes a BIG change. A whole load of people from an internet forum stalking someone in real life. Isn't it usually the other way around?

Is there anyone else we should be stalking?  ;D

My favourite was Madonna's stalker: Robert Hoskins.

Even better that Bob Hoskins was doing the BT Advert with "It's good to talk". You can guess the joke du jour.
"Yes please" said Squirrel "biscuits are our favourite things."

After the best part of eighteen months seeing her appear and disappear like the mythical Brigadoon, she came up behind me this morning and said hello.

Her name is Sarah and she works in Watford.  She says she's riding to New Zealand this summer.

Apparently, she can be found on the alley cat scene in town and was at the last one...

I so should have been there...  ::-)

Did you inform her of her reputation as a cult figure / superhero?

All of a sudden this forum has lost its air of mystery... ;)

I'm sensing a cascade of little moments.

Going to get into alleycats then, C?

Hmmm - my sense of self preservation tells me that proper alley cats might not be a Good Idea, but this sort of thing sounds rather fun...

Did she have any spoke cards, or are they just for poseurs and wannabees?
