We were at Whitehaven.

The supermarkets don't organise the bands/bag packers/etc., they are all voluntary. To be honest they do very little to accommodate you either, but if you want to make money as a charity then supermarkets at Christmas are about as effective a way as you can find.

That was a close one...

I was due to be on call last night but one of my colleagues said he would do it instead.  He's had to deal with the press all night.  ;D

Just done a bit of detective work and it turns out that the Thule roof-bar fittings I bought ages ago for my old Clio will also fit on a Hyundai i10 - not only have I saved myself about 120 quid by not needing to buy a new set, I also don't have the hassle of trying to shift the old ones. Result

Just need the car to be delivered now ...

I've just received a text message - from my son! Ignoring that he really should have been asleep hours ago, this is great news as he's never normally able to write more than a few words.  :)

And another one today! My pleasure at his growing literacy is beginning to be tempered by the wastefulness of telephony as a means of communication between adjacent rooms of the same house. I mean, it's not as if he's a teenager...

I've found my wallet again after losing it last week. It was hidden so far under the church organ that two previous searches didn't find it, and all the cards in it have been cancelled, but at least I've recovered it now :)

I found a wallet in the street the other day on my way home from the boozer. No money left in it but the cards and so on were intact so I dropped it off to its owner on my way into work the next morning.

Oh, he's far from sullen and recalcitrant. In fact he's always been very fun of words, sometimes so much that a little quiet would be nice. But maybe not for too long  :) And it's only 10p a day!

I've been a Newcastle fan since 1976.
It's nice to see one's local team do well but I don't profess to be a Stoke City fan.The last time I regularly watched SCFC was at the Victoria Ground in the days of Banks,Greenhoff,Smith,Hudson,Eastham et al when Tony Waddington was I.C.. I did enjoy my day out at Wembley in 1972 when SCFC won the League Cup.
I would have loved to have been in St. James' Park tonight. The atmosphere would have been absolutely fantastic.

ETA  having been intimately involved for 12 months in the construction of the Britannia Stadium  I'm not too keen to go back :I've seen enough of it;D
