Where in Auckland are you? My daughter moved there about 3 weeks ago. She's currently living in John Street, Ponsonby. Her belongings are still in a container.

Ooh, Ponsonby, there's posh! Glad she managed to get over here.

We are on the North Shore at a place called Narrow Neck.

I don't want to cause alarm but one of my UFO group (UnFinished Objects - ask Mrs Wow) moved from Aus and it took 6 months for her to get her container delivered.

I have a new job. A tad more money, but much less travel and the possibility of taking a van home overnight. I've been in my current role seven years and things there are not heading in the right direction.

Due to some quirk of internal regulations, I’m going to be paid for my enforced day off on Monday after all.

Since it is money I wasn’t expecting to receive, and that I’ll be getting for doing nothing, I shall make a generous donation to the local food bank.

At a guess, WFH has reduced burglary claims significantly.

Same as above. Far fewer miles driven, far fewer claims. Although my insurance (May last year) jumped significantly and Direct Line failed to explain why, so I’m now with Churchill. We will see what this year brings.

GN. Royal shenanigans mean I got time to do bike tinkering, such as cleaning the Pretty Bike and fitting a New! Shiny! cassette and chain to the Pino
BN. Found a busted spoke on the rear wheel of the Pino.
GN. The LBS in leafy Horsham was not only open but had the right size in stock.
Moar GN. The coffee shop in town was open and had fruit enhanced Pasteis de Nata.

I'm at home on my own. This is good news because My Dear Wife has hied herself to the Forum (fancy name for the central library) where she is attending her Craft Group for the first time since the start of the pandemic. I know the young chap who organises it will be very pleased she is there: she is one of the founder members and he regards her as something of an éminence grise, a status with which she is mildly uncomfortable, as a lifelong shrinking violet.

We left the house at about the same time, as I went for a swim. The water was beautifully clear, although there was quite a bit of eel grass floating in it (the stuff that attracts the brent geese to the Thames estuary every autumn). I had a good natter to another swimmer, whom I hadn't met before, and some friends whom I have known for years and are even older (!) than I am. The water is getting colder, but I'm still comfortable without my wetsuit (I've put on some weight since I last wore it, so I'm on a drive again to lose that) and the weather is still warm enough for me to cycle home in a short-sleeved shirt.

Long live summer!

Long live summer!

Wherever it went. :(

To be honest, the temperature is about average for September; however, the wind is a lot stronger than usual and makes every ride feel cold.

There's not much good news about, but I got a proper refund for those shit Veloce levers that were made of cheese, which is better than I was anticipating.

Change in the law means insurance companies have to offer renewals at the same price new customer would be quoted. You won't need to spend tedious hours getting a new quote every year (hopefully)

Found my medium sized tea flask, thought had been lost in summer as we made tea to take with us on a long drive and then couldn't find it when we stopped. Had stayed with family before we set off so checked their house on way back but nothing

I totally forgot we had lost it till wanted it on weekend

Checking tyre pressure on car yesterday and while pump was running stuck hand under passenger seat and completely out of view was the flask

Didn't try the tea bur no foul smell

My youngests best friend moves to Poland about 2 1/2 years ago, they've video talked but not seen in person since they went. They're over here for a few days and we met them. The two girls saw each other from either side of the park and legged it to each other for a huge hug. It looked like something from a movie
