Had a commissioning email from one of my editors for a good chunk of work. It won't be until next June or so, but it should be a decent contribution towards the n+1 fund...

I haven't got glaucoma after all.

... and 364 days later I still haven't.

Another year gone, and still no sign of glaucoma. The doctor I saw said that next year they might discharge me and leave the testing to  an optician.
After the is-it-or-isn't-it glaucoma of 2013 (it is) and 2014 (it isn't despite what we said last year), back to normal "all clear and see you next year" yesterday.

And now it has been decided that I don't need an annual eye clinic examination, as there is "no evidence of glaucoma" after several years of monitoring, and I can go back to an annual (free)  examination by optician.

The clocks have gone back. I know a lot of people don't like this, and I don't like the actual change, but whereas dark evenings are simply gloomy, dark mornings I find really hard to cope with. Or rather to get up in. Getting up before the sun is just wrong. And now I don't have to.  8)

Went down the LBS to moan about my bike being stolen, and to ask them to keep an eye out for it on the off chance, and to buy an inner tube. Mechanic there, who is always good for a natter, pointed out that if my bike gets flogged cheaply on gumtree, cash converters or whatever, it might become someone's cheap entry into cycling so I will indirectly have made a convert. So it all comes round in karma, or dogma, or cyclema or whatever. And everybody's still alive.

My youngest, 11 years old, daughter is coming home from hospital today after being ambulance in on Sunday afternoon with a severe asthma attack/exacerbation. Triggered, we believe, by a nasty viral infection and requiring significant IV drug administration as the nebuliser failed - given her peak flow had fallen to 60, from c.200, that's not really a surprise.

Needless to say, we're very very grateful to have her back.

The only amusing moment was her suggestion on Monday night that she'd run away from the hospital - I might have pointed out that if she could run they'd let her go. At that point, quote apart from a canula in each arm and two drip stands, she also had constant heart and blood oxygen monitoring,  and couldn't breathe well enough to walk to the loo.
