Several weeks of unswept chutney accumulation on the cyclepath[1], with bonus tactile paving.   >:(
Oh yes.
And then some ...

Terry Avenue in York is particularly sludge-tastic at the moment ...

I didn't realise you had to read twitter. After all it isn't compulsory. ANd if you do you can choose who you follow.

As for images, use a third party client that lets you choose how tweets are displayed. And then you can avoid said images appearing

Oh well, sorry for being so thick as to look at Twitter on Twitter.

Can you explain the second bit in terms that less savvy old fogies like us can understand? Like with a helpful link or something?

(the first sentence was aimed at interzen who was complaining about twitter even existing).

Lets start with the simple questions. What kind of computer are you choosing to use to view twitter?
Windows, Mac, Android, iPad, Linux?

Then sensible recommendations can be made.

On Tuesday a courier (UK Mail) wanted to leave a parcel for a neighbour with me. He said he'd leave a note for her to collect it, so no problem. She didn't turn up on Tuesday evening nor on Wednesday so yesterday I took it round. Of course, he'd left no note at all and was relying on me to take it to her (rather than open it and flog it on ebay).

Had a back massage earlier and have now just carted the cat round the corner to the vet and back. Should have done those 2 things the other way round....

I think the only win there would be for the cat.

Anyway, get thee home and supply me with gin!  :smug:

Being old fogies, we're on Windows laptops.

Sorry, your post came across to me as more patronising than it actually was, by the sound of it.

The great thing about using a twitter client rather than the website is that if you're that way inclined it can look like this:

(I find twitter much more manageable when treated as a particularly slow IRC channel, rather than "going and looking at twitter".)

This would be a rant, but it's of my own making.

Self: when winter is approaching and you look at the garden tap and think "now would be a good time to lag you"; bloody well do it! That way it wouldn't be dripping ominously after a frost today with a burgeoning wet patch appearing on the outside wall. I can only hope that the sun's rays that are now striking the tap don't reveal a catastrophic crack that will turn the dripping into a deluge.

Thank you for dialling in.
However may I suggest that you either:

A: Learn how to mute your phone
Or
B: Learn how turn the pages of your newspaper less noisily.

Thank you.

Tradesmen of any description.

If you don't want my business, just fucking say so - don't leave me hanging around waiting for a callback and/or say that you'll come round at such-and-such a time and then not bother turning up. Not only does it waste my time, it also gives a poor impression of your profession and, above all else, it's bloody rude and inconsiderate.

Plumbers are, by far, the worst offenders in my experience, closely followed by electricians.

My standard issue work steam typewriter desktop has fallen over again. Looks like a PSU issue but whatever it is I'm now a refugee at an alien desk with none of my paper stuff I need until 'IT support' feel like taking a walk down to the office. Last time it took them 4 days

Riding in this morning there was a CLACK-skrinklety-skrinklety-skrinklety which settled down to a regular CLUNK.

Feels like a broken bearing in the bottom bracket.

Fuckin earoles. My ears have been a bit crap for some months now. I'm supposed to be going to the hearing clinic sometime but I've yet to hear from them (ho ho). Yesterday I flew to Amsterdam and back and today everything sounds far away and decidedly muffled. If I speak loudly or try to play sax (my job, as it were) I get horrible distortion in my left ear. Arse, shit, bum and bollocks.

My ears have been bad for years. I feel sorry for you as it is most annoying. The only good thing about it is most of the time I can't hear what my wife is saying to me.

Decongestants. I tried the pills a couple of months ago and they seemed to help for a bit. I tried a spray up the nose one too but it just made me feel ill. I started the pills again this morning more in hope than expectation.
