Coffee beans for testing, filter so the ground beans don't get wasted.

Are we ok with a Cafetiere, or do we need the full filter? :)
I got as far as 'Filter and C' when I realised I couldn't remember the word 'Cafetiere'

While you guys are dithyrambling over coffee one of our dogs just ate a stink bug and threw up on the bedroom rug. Everything since and including his breakfast.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Ours usually do, but stink bugs are stink bugs - once they're broken open the pong is incredible.  A chum got one in her tea a few years back and didn't stop throwing up for an hour.

Incredibly snooty Kenilworth woman on my post round: Serfdom was abolished in England hundreds of years ago, I believe, so do not expect me to "mind my Ps and Qs" when trying to get you to confirm that your dog is secure. If you think I was rude, then you have a very strange interpretation of that word. I was civil enough, given the circumstances, and you can expect a sarcastic tug of my forelock should we ever need to do business again, which is quite likely.

A comb, which I paid for on the 2nd December, has been left in my postbox today. Was I unreasonable expecting it to be delivered on the 3rd December, when I paid for next day postage and ordered it before the 3.00pm cut off time.

What a crap service!

It's a bloody comb, not a special order Bentley!

If you want me to donate to the rotary club charity collection,  driving round the estate with a float blairing out a Wombelling Merry Christmas and bashing repeatedly on the front door while I'm on the loo is not the way to do it. Womble off somewhere else.

I have the same trouble with railway books.  Unknowing relatives think "Oh, William likes trains, I'm sure he'll love this discounted book I found in a High Street shop, for Christmas."  If a railway book is sufficiently interesting, I have already bought it, and no, you cannot buy any of them in High Street shops.  There is only one railway book I need right now, and I seem to be writing bits of it, and my research efforts are somewhat buggered by an ebola outbreak.  That's ebola, with one "b", so it cannot possibly be pronounced "ebbola"  :demon:

Ah well, apart from odd mispronunciations on the Inlaw Paw's satellite Beeb I've only heard it in French and German - EBBola. Of course, it's a Belgian coinage from an African name so they must all have got it wrong.

Bah! On my day off, it turns out the cheese shop in Warwick is usually closed on Mondays. I'm hoping it'll be open today, or it's Sainsbury's cheese on Thursday.

Update: five cheeses bought: An Irish, ripe cheddar; a lovely, creamy blue; an almost liquid brie; a chilli-laden cheddar (very hot!) and an oaky, crumbly Lancashire.

If I've asked you for a box of large powder-free examination gloves, why are you offering me medium ones?
Do you think I have the ability to make my hands shrink or something?

Sympathies! My Mum used to do the same with my wool socks.
There's a reason I put my Size 8s into size 9-11 men's socks...

All our merino everythings get washed at 40. (And we have a *lot* of merino). The only issue we've ever had was with an On-One cardi which turned into a Teddy bear top.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

All my merino stuffs get done at 40, and the tops have been just fine.
OTOH, the socks have shrunk every time they have been washed.
I can just-about haul them onto my feet, but it's a bit of a stretch!

I wash the merino at 40 too, unless there's enough to warrant a merino-only wash at 30 (there normally isn't, so it gets bunged in with the other stuff). No problems with shrinkage.

Ugh, wool, horrible itchy stuff, dunno how sheep cope with it.

I am offically allergic to sheeps wool! (and certain hardwoods, and a few other obscure things)

This.

The only exception being my Walz winter cap.  Which regular readers will know is my second one, the first having been given to SmallestCub after an accidental 40C wash courtesy of an unchecked jersey pocket.

It gets a manual rinse under the cold tap every now and then.

I shrank one green & white On One jersey at 40oC, but nothing else merino (including an older red, green and white On One Jersey of similar design) has been affected
