I'd guess that in the specific case of M&S their average customer is older now than twenty years ago. Does anyone under 60 buy anything other than socks and pants there nowadays?

I am not quite 60. I do buy some things there.

I'm sure Young People buy their comestibles.

Some of their larger petite range of women's clothes fit me reasonably well.  I'm only 36. Their basic tops are also useful, reasonably hard wearing, plain and not expensive.

Are their larger petite sizes complemented by a smaller plus range?  :D

Petite relates to height, sadly it does not have an anti petite counterpart.

I've always thought the maternity section fills this role, at least in practice.  Usual context: "Ah, these look like a more sensible shape..." *looks up at sign* "Bugger."

Oh, I thought petite meant short and slender. Or stumpy and skinny, as you prefer. But definitely with an important or even dominant thinness component.

Actually, shouldn't the complement to 'plus sizes' be 'minus sizes'? No, maybe not.

I'm 42 and I buy underthings, shirts for work and the odd work (office) trousers and jumpers.

The longevity is generally good from them.

Unfortunately I now need to spend more time in both client offices and the mothership.

I confess I buy the occasional pair of trousers from M&S because they do 30 inch waists and short legs (if you order them online). Yeah, they have skinny legs and I suspect all that cycling has made me calves of steel and thighs of, erm, something tremendously hard. I do apparently have very taut buttocks. I'd prefer I'd not been told that by a man. I have got to get some friends who aren't gay.

There is alas no 'petit' range for the modern man. They probably need a petitx for non-binary gender defiant dwarves. Can I say dwarves? Actually aren't they friends of elves? Little people. I'm not sure if they're from Middle Earth. You're not supposed to ask them.

Most other stuff I wear comes from those outdoor activity stores. I look like I may climb a mountain at any moment. Other than the general lack of mountains. Sometimes I wear corduroy. Just because I can. Mostly I look like Activity Moby.

Mrs B had to apply for a parking permit for her offices. The form had a confusingly named field with a drop down menu of postcodes of sites - offices, clinics, hospitals, etc. She picked one from the list, but wasn't sure (& nor was I) that this was what was wanted.

Application rejected. She should have ignored the drop-down menu & typed in her home postcode.   She has to re-apply.

What idiot designed that form? Rules: Thou shalt not present users with invalid options. All fields should be clearly & unambiguously labelled.  A drop-down menu, if used, must present all valid options. And so on . . .

The work bus left bang on time as I got within 10 metres of it this morning so I had to wait 15 mins for the next one.
The roadworks mean that the busses have to go past the pick up point at my office on the way to the main office, but ROOLS say that I have to stay on it, be taken to the main office, get off there and cycle back on the main road. Only an 8 minute delay.
This afternoon's bus passed me on the way out, as I was on my way to catch it, 3 minutes before it was due.
The one 15 minutes later was bang on time but the WiFi doesn't work.
The data from the vehicle tracking system on the busses is considered too secret for the passengers to have access too.
40 minutes extra for the bus journey than it needed to be, or 20% of the journey time.
How long is the average commute in this country?

Those little spring clips that fasten V-brake blocks to the holders: sometimes they're taped to the backing card, sometime's they're just loose. In the latter case you can very easily lose them... And even if you don't lose them, they're really fiddly to get in. Why don't they use a retaining screw like sidepulls?

I've heard this alleged. Even suspected it myself once. But it seems illogical to me. Isn't it more work to carry the parcel back? And doesn't it take longer to write the card than to wait for someone to answer the door?

But much easier to pre write the cards and not carry the parcel at all.

My (old) failed delivery anecdote did not involve a card. I had paid extra for M&S to deliver on a specified date.
Courier's website stated failed delivery at time when I knew I was sitting downstairs awaiting delivery.
The alleged 'no response' on the website got me to check the doorbell, which worked perfectly.

I told both M&S and John Lewis that I would not use their mail order service until they used another courier.
