I have always been a greasy-skinned person and have had trouble with spots of various kinds from time to time, on different portions of my anatomy.

For some time I have had a particularly annoying one out of sight and almost out of reach on my back. I have managed to persuade Mrs. Wow to get to work on it and this morning it produced a considerable quantity of gunk. It's still a bit swollen and there may well be more in there, but she did a grand job, beyond the call of duty.

It brings a completely different complexion to the expression "my favourite squeeze".

in 2007 I was working in the back of my van and stood up, forgetting the roof was low. I hit a bolt that was holding a roof rack onto the van. Fast forward to 2015, the hole had turned into a pilar cyst. The doctor reckoned that I'd damaged a folicle. They weren't going to remove it because it wasn't a threat to my health.

after a few complaints about it rubbing on my helmet and the fact that it was huge and no longer being in my sparse hairline, it was removed. It was HUGE, it was twice the size of a baked bean and a similar shape too. They cut it open to show me and it was full of mushy keratin. If the sack thing isnt removed it grows back. The hole in my head was deep, this thing went down to my skull!

If it's a cyst get it removed, it takes minutes and doesn't hurt. It took more time waiting at the hospital than the time it took to cut it out!!

I had four cysts removed from my scalp a few years ago; the surgeon was apparently not allowed to remove any more.
I have at least another half dozen lurking under my voluminous locks.

The one on the top of my head measures around 2.5 x 2 x 1.5cm

My daughter got one the size of a pea on her finger, from writing. Went away of its own accord.

I've had a flattish one on my ribs, under the skin, for years. At its biggest it was about 3cm square. Caused by an accident on gymnastics equip. Doc said it wouldn't do any harm, just leave it.

I had a pilonidal sinus when I was in my 20s.

Apart from what looked like a spare anus, I was symptom-free for a couple of years. When the infections started it was time to cut. The process of having the wound cleaned and packed by a visiting nurse each day did a lot to reduce my inhibitions.

I had a Bartholin's Cyst once.

I was reprimanded by my boss for putting too much unnecessary detail on my sick note. (The job I had at the time necessitated walking and sitting. Neither tasks were an option, given the state I was in ...)

Had one cut out of the middle of my back a few years ago. Didn't see it though so cant comment on the size. It was in that bit of your back you just cant reach unless your double jointed.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

This was the same with me, when I had a fistula drained.  Apparently the smell was not in the slightest bit pleasent.  Thankfully I was knocked out at the time.

I loved the idea of stuffing seaweed into the wound, though, to help it heal.

Three years ago I had what the surgeon reckoned to be a Garrod's pad on my left ring finger, but which turned out on biopsy to be a giant cell tumour.  I'm really glad I had it out, because it was causing me no small amount of pain.  About a year later, I had a recurrence of growth at the same knuckle and was told by a rather blasé registrar that it was just a bit of stitch which hadn't fully dissolved.  A few weeks after that, I snagged it when taking my wedding ring off and it was MESSY.  :-X

I had what I was told was a cyst on the top of my skull. While lying there as they removed it I was told that it wasn't a cyst but a Lipoma (fatty tumour). It's now grown back  >:(

I'm going to see if I can get it looked at again, but apparently lipoma removal is classed as cosmetic and they are reluctant to do it.

It's cosmetic if it's not:
1) Interfering with sleep
2) Interfering with work
3) Causing PAIN
4) Getting infected
5) Catching on clothes

etc

Find a functional problem caused by this lump and play on it.

Ah well, they didn't even demur when I asked if it could be done again, 4 month wait which is fair enough for non essential surgery.   Getting my head sliced open on Monday & hopefully camping at Wing on Friday.

I had one on my shin and when it eventually burst and I squeezed the core out of it, it left a hole that I could stick my little finger in down to the boney bit.

Got a 5p sized scar with a dimple in it.

I get lipomas coming up in all sorts of places, sometimes they spontaneously disappear (apparently that's not usual), but sometimes they itch like buggery. I've had two on my arms removed on the basis of itching - the others don't generally bother me.

Read the title as "Pustules, cyclists and other excrescences". Glad nobody wants to squeeze our heads off. Do they?

On one list I now ignore a bloke posted a picture of the hole left in his arm after cyst removal and invited people to Photoshop it in any way they fancied.  One bloke added teeth.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Well that's hopefully over & done with.   It took an hour,  the surgeon was saying it was unusually large & hard to get out as it was flattened against the skull.  Lots of exclamations of "its a monster " & "it's not giving up"! which didn't cheer me up.  Lots of tugging & cutting noises & apparently I bled a lot more than is usual (dentists have told me this as well).  All to a soundtrack of Gery Rafferty on the radio!

He showed me the thing in a jar afterwards,  looked like a circular bit of white plastic, though it was hard to see.   If it grows back again & I elect to have it removed again he recommends a general.

All the staff were excellent, I was chatting away with the surgeon throughout.  The surgeon was fairly relaxed at the thought of me cycling & camping at the weekend, the senior nurse less so...  she was also quite concerned when I told her I was walking 15 minutes back to the station for the train home.

I'm not to get my head wet until the stitches are removed in 11 days & have been told to sleep in an upright position & not to bend forward too much.

I don't get this 'don't get the head wet' business.
I am given to understand that a wound is 'sealed' after 48 hours and the skin can be gently washed under running water and dried (with a clean towel).

I ignored the advice to keep my head dry for a week after the stitches were removed, following removal of four cysts, and my head didn't fall off...
