Hazard should have either taken a proper free kick into that play acting POS, or appealed to the ref that sed POS was wasting time.

I dont get the wasting time bit, the referee would add that time on at the end anyway  :-\
Its a standard defensive 'tactic' to slow play down - by whatever means - allowing you to get men back behind the ball, mark-up, organise etc.

See also: defenders 'accidentally' running over/past the ball before a free kick.

So yes, the ballboys can help the home team in these situations.

From analysis of the video footage, the ball-boy had possession of the ball for forty seconds.

Rafael Benitez has offered him a three-year contract ;D

Non story - The ballboy was a prat for trying to slow the game down. Hazard was an idiot for at least carelessly kicking him and got the red card that deserved.
+1

The ballboy deserves no sympathy, & should be banned from future games, but that doesn't excuse Hazard. You don't try to kick the ball out of the possession of a ballboy, whatever the prat is doing.

In a slight reversal of thread title, the excellent Coloccini f Newcastle kicked Chelsea's new (and Newcastle's ex-) ball-boy on Saturday!  Accidentally, apparently!
