the first half of the Agatha Christie thing was rather good (something Pale Horse something?). rufus Sewell being delightfully smarmy, yet troubled.

Digging the 60s interiors. Man.

...but the 2nd half.
It is simpler than it looks.

we are going to re-watch the 2nd half, just couldn't really work out what it was about, not much really added up - may be it was for very clever people who can do the times cryptic crossword in 25 seconds.

Billy Bragg talking about the skiffle craze of the 50s. It may be a repeat, but I've not seen it before. He delivers with passion and knowledge, although the cap he sports in some scenes is a bit dodgy. BBC4 now, just finishing.

I saw that too. Really interesting even though I don't like skiffle. The knock on effect the craze had on 60s music is amazing. The Chaz and Dave documentary after it was brilliant too, don't like their stuff either but Chaz's early career was fascinating and they seem(ed - Chaz died in 2018) like nice guys.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Oh.  We watched the first half last night.  Going to watch the second half for completeness but I'm not holding out much hope now...

Homeland Series 8.  C4.  Needs recording really, given all the frequent, copious adverts.

I thought it really kicked off this week! Great episode.

[And Carrie was (possibly) not the maddest character in it :P ]

Hidden - second series is not worth watching. Waste of 6 hours of my life. Don’t bother.

Hinterland

Small budget, good cinematography. Good acting. Old-fashioned cop show.

Interesting fact; every scene was shot twice, in English and in Welsh.

Deserves more attention, IMO. Equal of most of the scandi noir that is all the rage.

Both created by the same team. I wouldn't go quite as far as AH, but the second Hidden was not as good as the first and neither as good as any of the 3 Hinterlands. It was a bold move to make it a whydunnit rather than a whodunnit, or, at least, to let us know who the perps were from the start.

"The Five"

I wanted to like this, but the directors hollywood ambition and increasingly unlikely plot line made it a 'lets get it over with' series instead, once I had invested in the first half.

+1 to all that!

It's been very odd seeing the lead actor turn-up in other stuff; I keep expecting that welsh accent, and a tortured taciturn persona! Still, the lad's done well.

Even odder that his equally taciturn sidekick DI Mared Rhys (Mali Hughes) is now spendthrift entrepreneur Natasha Archer in the Archers. It's weird how these professional actors can pretend to be very different people.

The Nest on BBC1 / iPlayer. Some slightly obvious acting but good overall. Enjoying the Glasgow setting.

Watching 'The First' on Prime, which is good...except once again they're putting all their diversity on one character. Why are so many strong female black characters gay?. It just seems so lazy to me. That or it's a cop-out. "Hey, that should tick all the diversity boxes..job done!".

Tonight, on More 4, there's this:

It's from Florence Road, Maidstone, and my daughter and family may well be featured. They actually live in an adjacent road but some of it took place in friends' gardens and they were on hand to see what was going on. Both daughter and her husband are history teachers so it's pretty close to their hearts.

I will have to find out how to work the television.

Ah I did post about it when it was announced for iPlayer, but neglected to repost once the terrestrial showing began.

Can’t say. We generally wait and record all episodes before watching (though in this case all are available on iPlayer. We’re still catching up with Baghdad Central!
