I was out. I've done little or no preperation up until last week, bar a few goes on the rollers when I've been able to grab half an hour so I've little mileage this year, although I did have quite a good year in 2016, I'm heavier than I'd like to be and probably a long way from fit enough FIL has been very poorly at home since the turn of the year, then in hospital, then in hospice , then passed away a couple of weeks ago. Since then I've been tied up with sorting things out, the funeral, and spousal support. I emailed the team and pulled out, then a few hours later emailed them back and told them to ignore me
I've decided to turn up at the start and ride, and see how far it gets me. I reckon worst that can happen is I get a few long days cycling and some of the nosh I've already paid for
