Author Topic: Seattles boris bike scheme closes, Electric replacements rumoured.  (Read 1349 times)

Very bikey city. Lot of money spent to keep it limping along. Very low usage. To close in March.
Rumours of replacement of the Pronto fleet with new electric assists in the summer.

They've been trying to find a new investor for a while now.  One of the new problems they face is that only a few months ago King County (Seattle is in King County) introduced a mandatory adult helmet law.  See Seattle bike Blog http://www.seattlebikeblog.com/2016/12/19/times-king-countys-adult-helmet-law-could-hold-back-seattles-new-bike-share-system/  which makes the point that the most successful bike share schemes are where riders can cycle unfettered.
