Sad day, but for some reason I thought he had already died. What with Noakesy croaking a short while ago, there won't be many of my formative years' presenters left.

Several years ago I saw Brian Cant at a Fringe show with Phil Jupitus doing a sort of chat-show/retrospective of Chigley, Trumpton and Camberwick Green. He seemed to be just as lovely as he was on telly. The voice of my childhood.

I remember seeing a weird, bouffant-haired dwarf crossing the road somewhere near the South Bank.

It may well be one of those years when old children's TV entertainers die yes.  This should not be confused with David Bowie, George Michael and Prince.  It's Brian Cant FFS.  He doesn't make it "one of those years".

Noel Edmonds on a thread about Brian Cant (my TV dad)?  No comparison.

Ftr, Carol Chell was my TV mum.

Toni Arthur was the first woman I fell in love with.

And I wanted to be John Noakes.
Getting there...

Trivia fact: Top Gear under William Woollard had bigger viewing figures than Top Gear under the Clarkson triumvirate.  However, that was in an age before Internet pr0n and satellite channels.

Well mebbe not for you, but for a long time I found Brian Cant a damn sight more entertaining than Bowie, GM or the artist known as unfathomable squiggle.
