There is no escape from the chcikens !
« on: 04 December, 2008, 01:35:15 pm »
Mildred our big chicken (as opposed to the bantam) has just worked out what the cat flap into my office is and is pecking at it. Shortly she will work out how to get in. This is bad news.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Stick a cat flap into the front of the oven.   :demon:

That'll teach her!

She didn't get in. The feathered duo have now retired to their coup for the evening to plot. I may have to have words with her highness the killer moggie about doing some guard duty in the morning. She doesn't like other cats using her cat flap and I think she would definitely draw the line at chickens.

Cue tomorrow's post: "Chicken vs Cat: My cat has a hole in..."
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

You could fit an RFID Chicken Cat flap.
Actually, it is rocket science.

We may just test this one. A chap I know has a business making them so I'm awaiting my free sample :).

On a slightly more useful note, you did say "Mildred our big chicken...".  Cats are remarkably adept at squeezing through gaps, especially if they know they can get through somewhere, so maybe you could just block the flap up partially, so the cat(s) can squeeze through but it's too small for the chicken?

She's a full size chicken but she can get in the bantam coup through the bantam pop hole an squeeze herself onto a bantam roost. We didn't buy her she is a stray that decided she liked our bantam more than the chickens down the road and just moved in. No sign or pecking today but its sunny, they only sit outside my office when its raining or snowing (the doorway is sheltered).
