Wrist injury
« on: 13 July, 2009, 05:01:51 pm »
My sister's boyfriend fell over around 2 years ago and injured the scaphoid in his wrist. After 4 operations (with screws being put in) there has been no real fix. The poor sod is desperate to get back into cycling (especially mountain biking) and was wondering how he can achieve this. I think he is very down about it, but I would be too if I was in his situation!

Any ideas?

Normal cycling yes, easily overcome with dual controls on one side of the bars. Going over to a recumbant is also an idea.

Off road - not so hot an idea but that hasn't stopped some amputees. Just bear in mind an amputee will not be re-breaking the missing arm.

Not as much as he would recoil from the idea of loosing a hand due to constant unresolved fractures going manky.
