I think I've updated the cast list correctly in the OP - looks like a decent turnout. And who wouldn't want to come along to some of the best cycling country in the UK - I mean, it's not County Durham, but it's pretty close.

I've got my tickets and will soon have a tent.  Really looking forward to this!

Saw the bits about riding on the Pennine Way.  Pennine Bridleway, maybe, Pennine Way no, not for me, anyway.  Might walk up to High Cup Nick, though.  Probably be quicker.

I have just seen this (not been on Forum much recently).  I have hardly used my tent this year, so wondering if I'm too late to join you?

Ok..looking for train tickets...might have to come up a day or so earlier and leave a but later to make it affordable, but that's no problem.

I am also free. October is beginning to look like an extention of the summer holidays. Let's hope the weather is better!

I have been looking at train fares from Southend. It's about £26 each way (Southend - Appleby) with the OBRC, and at the moment that's the same whichever day I travel.

Oh, that makes me wonder - are we supposed to book our own places, Dean?  If so, I'll get on to it.

I am going to have to say I'm out to this, for now at least.

I think that the site has allowed for the whole group , the lady that I spoke to wanted to know if I was with the cycling group. There won't be too many campers around in October.

Crumbs that's miles away.

7 hours of trains each way plus cycling to /from stations.

I'm out!

We're still cogitating.   We might have a bigger plan.

Anybody have any clues about camping around the Cumbrian coast please?

Off the top of my head, C&CC have a site at Ravenglass on the coast. There's camp sites in places like Silloth, Allonby and St Bees.

Are you looking at before or after the trip? If after then you would be welcome to stay here :)

The EldestCub's most favourite campsite in the world is (we think, after googling and looking at some photos) Fisherground campsite, Eskdale, Cumbria.  He's been there with his grandad.

Of course the reason it is his favourite campsite in the work is the pond-with-tyre-rafts.  Depending how far up your wishlist that is, you might not share his view :D

No, I'll book us in as a group. Campers, at least. Caravanners such as mc can do as they please (I don't think there are any other caravanners).

Ah, fame! Or notoriety, at least ;)

Graeme asked if Wowbagger was on Strava, and we were wondering what the slowest ascent of Great Dun Fell is...

Looks as though he is, and the slowest time on Strava (if it ain't on Strava etc) is a sprightly 1 hour 53 minutes for the 7.4 km segment:

Do you reckon you can beat that, Wow?

I'm 1,420th by the way ;D

It depends on what you mean by "beat".

Rules are simple, surely:  Slowest time possible, without actually stopping.  Trikes are cheating.

I had thought of a freewheel competition down to the gate, but I'm not sure I can be faffed with the logistics. GPX tracks and cable ties around cranks/chainstays might work.

Seeing you had already done 190 kilometers not too shabby!

Have you met the bloke that has the quickest time?
