What odd things have you discovered work well together?

I'll start with muesli and ice cream :

Half fill a glass with dry muesli  (the Lidl fruit and nut varety is great).  Fill with good vanilla ice cream.  Eat with a teaspoon,  digging deep round the edges.

Crystallized ginger and salami, chewed together.  One of my favourite cycling treats in happier years.

Porridge with boiled egg.

Jeepers!

Mine: Dark chocolate with flaked salt.

If that's too mainstream, then I offer: Peanut butter, avocado, piccalilli and mustard sandwich. It works.

In the light of this, I've started this thread here. :)

Peanut butter and red bell pepper sandwich.  Scrummy.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Salt and pepper with cornflakes. Don't add milk. It's kind of ok until you add milk.
I insisted on trying this combination when I was a child.

Porridge with boiled egg.

Savoury porridge is common in the far-east (congee).

Not exactly weird, and pretty hipster, but fried chicken, maple syrup, and waffles. Same for breakfast pancakes and syrup with a side of bacon and sausage.

Lemon curd and pork breakfast sausage.

Combinations such as these allowed me to keep my sandwiches to myself when I was at school.

Marmite and marmalade (on toast, bread or other stuffs don't work).

I discovered this combination as a child. Since that time I have come across two others who have independently discovered the delights of this delicacy.

Pork products lend themselves well to sweet, fruity flavours.  Sausage and black pudding also go really well with marmalade.

Oh yes. I forgot bacon and plum jam sandwiches.  Absolutely scrummy.  Other jams don't really work.
I must try marmalade.

Pork & plum pie was a Victorian favourite.  There used to be a restaurant called Reilly's near my sister's place in Norn Iron where the chef specialized in reviving old recipes. This one was great.

Porridge with boiled egg.

I do a variety of savoury porridges, mushrooms, a bit of cheese, a few shallots, radishes etc.

Mmmm. Sounds like it has promise. (I'd be tempted to try bacon with rhubarb & ginger jam, but more out of a spirit of experimentation than a hope that it would work.)

Bacon and smoked salmon.
Cheese and jam.
Black pudding and, well, anything.

I am not the only person who  puts:
Redcurrant jam jelly on lamb
Cranberry jam sauce on poultry
Apple sauce on pork
Plummy stuffs with duck

In fact, if you substituted blackcurrant jam for many of the sauces listed, you might be happy enough.

Commercial blackcurrant jam's a bit sweet thobut - tastes largely sugary rather than fruity.
